Your perspectives are unique and powerful, and your input will help ensure that we are developing a social marketing campaign that meets your needs, and the needs specific to California.

California Office of Suicide Prevention

The Office of Suicide Prevention (OSP) was established in 2008 by the California Department of Mental Health (DMH). In 2008, DMH published the California Strategic Plan on Suicide Prevention.  The California Strategic Plan for Suicide Prevention provides recommendations of the Suicide Prevention Plan Advisory Committee to the California Department of Mental Health.  Go to www.dmh.ca.gov/prop_63/MHSA/Prevention_and_Early_Intervention/docs/SuicidePreventionCommittee/FINAL_CalSPSP_V9.pdf to download a copy of this Plan.

Some of OSP’s primary activities include:

  • Providing suicide prevention technical assistance to counties and local organizations
  • Coordinating local, state and national level partners that expand suicide prevention networks in California
  • Collecting, analyzing and disseminating suicide data and best practices for suicide prevention
