Purpose: The California Suicide Prevention Network (CSPN) brings together stakeholders throughout the state to identify needs and develop actionable steps to reduce suicide and its devastating consequences. We will host quarterly meetings throughout our region to provide you with the most current suicide prevention information, identify needs, develop best practices, network, and connect you with suicide prevention resources in your communities.
Who Should Attend: San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, Orange, and San Bernardino County stakeholders from schools, workplaces, faith-based organizations, ethnic and LGBT community groups, law enforcement and other first responders, medical professionals, older adult providers, mental health and substance abuse professionals, social services organizations, military and VA, media, crisis lines, consumers, family members, and other mental health and suicide prevention advocates.
Agenda: Please join us for the second Regional Task Force Meeting of the CSPN Southern California Region. In honor of both 9/11 and National Suicide Prevention Week, we are proud to announce Dave Walker as our Keynote Speaker, to address military, veteran, and first responder suicide prevention.
1. Keynote Speaker – Dave Walker: Military, Veteran, and First Responder Suicide Prevention
Speaker Biography: Dave Walker is a decorated combat Vet that is currently a law enforcement trainer. The state of California retained Walker as a subject matter expert in creating the curriculum to address the subject of Veterans in crisis. He is also an instructor for the US Army’s Operation Yellow Ribbon, as well as an adviser to the Vets Court for Santa Clara County. Walker has over 21 years experience as part of a law enforcement Critical Incident Team, and was a first responder to the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. More importantly, he has been successful in preventing suicides and firmly believes that the power to affect change will come from local resources. Walker believes that family, caring, and collaboration are key to reversing the current trend of increased suicide and suicidal behavior.

Location Information: The meeting will be held in the Auditorium of the San Bernardino County Health Services. It has its own entrance at the westernmost end of the building. There is plenty of open parking in front of building. No special permits or passes required.
