Each Regional Task Force has identify a Best Practices Work Group comprised of 8-12 people from Counties across the Region. The Best Practices Work Group is developing one best practice in suicide prevention to be submitted to the Suicide Prevention Resource Center’s Best Practice Registry. The Best Practice that has been chosen for South Region (San Diego) has been the It’s Up to Us Media Campaign

To decide on what the Best Practice would be a Regional Planning Committee was created  this committee helped decide on the top three Best Practices for the South Region.

  • The committee should include, but is not limited to county liaisons, regional lead, and crisis lines
  • Members should represent various counties within the region
  • Members should be able to make the time commitment to participate in the Planning Committee meetings

The Regional Planning Committee met in December 2012 and  decided that the top three were (It’s Up 2 Us Media Campaign, Survivors of Suicide Loss Groups, and Military Services and Family Support Project) after some vetting the Best Practice that was chosen for the South Region was the “It’s Up 2 Us” Media Campaign that Riverside and San Diego both use and was developed with help from AdEase marketing organization.
